BBQ magazine scores heavily at Rowledge Cricket Club

BBQ: Fire, Food & Outdoor Living activates and reinforces brands in local markets through accessing key places and moments of influence in the community, such as at cricket clubs, where players, families and supporters regularly gather.

BBQ’s first sports partner was Rowledge Cricket Club near Farnham in Surrey. The club has around 600 members and runs three senior teams, as well as junior age groups from U9s to U19s, with both girls’ and boys’ teams. Once a week the club runs cricket training and matches for five- to eight-year-olds.

Friday evenings at the cricket club see the bespoke, branded barbecue, supplied by BBQ magazine in partnership with Barbecue Shack, cooking burgers and sausages for 300 people or more.

Via a QR code on the barbecue and promotional material in the clubhouse and on the Rowledge CC website, members and visitors can access live-fire recipes and inspiration for outdoor cooking and dining experiences, as well as ideas for BBQ equipment, accessories and outdoor furniture.

A DeliVita wood-fired oven is now also a fixture at the cricket club, cooking up to 100 pizzas a week for teams, guests and Friday family nights, selling at £8 a pizza and turning a tasty profit for the club. “The club is thrilled with the success of the wood-fired oven and the addition of the DeliVita par-baked sourdough bases make the pizza preparation so easy that hardly any training is required,” said Carl Baker, chairman of Rowledge CC.
